Abbath really need no introduction. Their eponymous frontman Abbath Doom Occulta (real name Olve Eikemo) is a legend in black metal circles since the early days of Immortal: he is one of the founders of the genre and his make-up might be one of the most recognizable pieces of imagery in the entire Norwegian scene. Over a decade since his exit from the pioneering outfit, he's carried the sound and spirit of the movement into the present day with albums that do not demerit next to statements like the ones he released in the early 90's with his former band. In 2026, he remains one of the last lifelines to the original ethos of the whole genre: primitive, belligerent yet slightly progressive songs delivered with intensity, commitment... and perhaps a little wink to the audience. Ruthless and efficient, his fifty-minute set engulfed La Machine in a blizzard of unbridled violence and dark mythology, quenching an audience thirsty for authentic black metal.
