Christone "Kingfish" Ingram @ La Cigale, Paris - November 16th, 2025

What is it about the blues that just moves you every time. Christone "Kingfish" Ingram's take on the idiom is not revolutionary, it is not even original. It is not supposed to be. The blues are about tradition. The blues are about reverence for the form and its many branches. The blues are about passion. When played right, no matter how many times you have heard it before, that blue note will resonate with your heart strings, make them vibrate, make your feet dance.

The young blues guitarist played in front of a sold out Cigale theater in support of his latest album Hard Road and brought the house down with his impassioned singing and fluid fretboard fireworks. Rockers, ballads and funky numbers... Kingfish's repertoire runs the gamut of blues idioms. The show's centerpiece was undoubtedly Rock N' Roll, a slower song he wrote in tribute to his deceased mother. His elegiac solo on that tune found the guitarist bending long high notes as if reaching toward the sky.

A triumphant set by a man who, despite his young age, has all the soul and grit of a veteran of the blues.
