A majestic, hypnotic start to what was presumably a wonderful concert by the groundbreaking outfit. Unfortunately, we weren't able to stay past the first three songs, so there is no review but the photos should give you an idea of the ambience.

The first group on the star-studded "Gods of Rap" tour is De La Soul who delivered a set filled with hits and positive vibes.

Second on the "Gods of Rap" bill is Public Enemy Radio, a.k.a. Public Enemy without Flavor Flav. While his absence was disappointing, Chuck D. and his supporting cast delivered a typically ferocious, militant, old-school set.

Even in the absence of Method Man, the Wu-Tang Clan managed to tear the roof off the Accorhotels Arena. GZA, RZA, Raekwon, Ghostface Killa and the rest of the Clan (including O.D.B.'s son) brought da ruckus to the French capital.

The veteran Soul outfit from Oakland, CA and its famed horn section brought the Parisian heat up a notch with a tight, funky set that had the audience on its feet all night.

Incendiary guitar by one of Chicago's most dexterous players, fusing blues, jazz and soul.

Kris Barras @ la Cigale, Paris - May 26th, 2019

The first act in the Rockin' the Blues Festival line-up is Kris Barras, a former MMA champion who infuses his muscular Blues-Rock with the same kind of power and discipline as he used to his former trade.

Walter Trout @ la Cigale, Paris - May 26th, 2019

Walter Trout is a survivor, and hot off the heels of a great new record he brought his authentic brand of Texas Blues to Paris as part of the Rockin' The Blues touring festival.

Jonny Lang @ la Cigale, Paris - May 26th, 2019

Headlining this monster Blues-Rock line-up is former child prodigy Jonny Lang who grew up to be a legitimate superstar in his own right.

Gov't Mule @ la Cigale, Paris - June 4th, 2019

Blues, Jazz, Soul, Southern Rock, Psychedelic, Hard Rock... these guys can do it all. Oh, and they jam like motherfuckers, too.

The Sheepdogs @ Point Éphémère, Paris - June 12th, 2019

Killer performance from a fantastic band. Think Allman Brothers Band meets Creedence Clearwater Revival and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The future of Rock and Roll is in the past.

Rob Zombie @ Bataclan, Paris - June 19th, 2019

Horror, humor and metal always made for a great cocktail. Rob Zombie took 1200 willing participants and drug them down straight to Hell.

ZZ Top @ la Seine Musicale, Paris - June 21st, 2019

Despite playing only 80 minutes, the pilose trio from Texas brought down the house on Fête de la Musique in this new venue in the Paris suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt. All the hits, and the tasty guitar playing of the inimitable Reverend Billy F. Gibbons.

Gary Clark, Jr. @ la Cigale, Paris - June 22nd, 2019

Watching Gary Clark, Jr. grow from Blues prodigy to bona fide Soul Music superstar has been thrilling and his concert in the middle of the Parisian heatwave was just the confirmation of a major talent.

Fantastic Negrito @ New Morning, Paris - July 2nd, 2019

Ending the season on another killer gig, Oakland's Fantastic Negrito's militant brand of Alternative Soul was championed by the French audience packing the venerable New Morning jazz club.

Well, here it is. That was our concert season. A lot of great stuff (but then again we don't bother with mediocre shit), some welcome discoveries and very little disappointments. Next season is looking great already with Parisian dates from Doyle Bramhall II, Helmet, Alice Cooper, A-Ha, Patti Smith, Duff McKagan and more... And we'll be there to tell you all about it. Enjoy your summer!
