Fox Lake delivered a short but explosive set opening the night at the Olympia. The Colorado outfit plays nu metal that riffs and raps like it is still the early 2000s, and they leaned into the nostalgia from the start, kicking things off with the unmistakable sound of a PlayStation 2 booting up. The trick sent a wave of recognition through the thirty somethings in the room before the band even struck a note. From there the chaos began immediately: circle pits opened, walls of death formed, and crowd surfers began spilling over the barricade, much to the frustration of security and the delight of the headbangers. In under thirty minutes, Fox Lake delivered a pure shot of adrenaline and testosterone, then walked off having done exactly what an opening band is supposed to do. They thoroughly wrecked the place.
