Funk legend Fred Wesley will bring his Generations trio to Paris in March 2026.

A key collaborator with James Brown in the 1960s and 1970s, Fred Wesley’s trombone and musical direction helped shape some of the era’s defining funk recordings. Beyond those years, he has worked with Parliament-Funkadelic, Count Basie and countless others, developing a career that spans funk, soul jazz and broader jazz traditions. For the Generations project, he performs with organist Leonardo Corradi and drummer Tony Match, a formation originally brought together to honour the legacy of jazz organist Jimmy Smith while finding its own internal balance.

Fred Wesley & Generations will perform with special guest Robin McKelle at New Morning in Paris on March 12, 2026
