Kathrine Shepard returned to the Paris region on October 3rd, bringing her Sylvaine project to Le Forum in Vauréal for a performance that traded the intimate solo atmosphere of her May show at Les Étoiles for something far louder yet equally intense. Whatever the setting, she channels emotion with rare focus, and this time the volume only heightened the impact.
Sylvaine’s music thrives on contrasts: light and shade, tension and release, calm and fury. The set traced the arc of her career, with generous selections from her most recent album Nova alongside rarities from her early work such as Wistful. ending a capella with traditional Norwegian folk song "Eg Er Framand" during which time stood still and the crowd held its collective breath.
Her albums may feel like films for the ears, but her concerts unfold as journeys. The path can be turbulent, pulling the listener through sharp emotional turns, yet surrendering to her world is transformative.
