Last time Def Leppard played Paris, the world was a very different place. Mobile phones were not yet widespread. The internet existed, but it had not entered daily life. The euro had not replaced the franc. The September 11 attacks had not yet taken place.
At that time, popular musical figures such as Frank Sinatra and Gene Autry were still alive. So were political leaders like Deng Xiaoping and Pol Pot. And since then, the music landscape has shifted several times. Entire scenes, like nu metal, emerged and disappeared. The CD market collapsed. Digital formats replaced physical sales.
Now, Def Leppard returns to the City of Lights. Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Rick Allen, Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell will perform in Paris at the Accor Arena on July 8 with support from Extreme.
The band's latest release is 2023's Drastic Symphonies, a reworking of Leps classics with new orchestral arrangement.
