Listen to Public Image, Ltd.'s new single here

Hawaii is P.I.L.'s newest single and, if John Lydon has hi wish, will be Ireland's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Let that sink in.

At this point, it's hard to tell if Lydon is a drunken buffoon or just trolling the music world. In any case, it's a fantastic song. Oddly, it's pretty reminiscent of Peter Gabriel. Lydon's voice sounds as sarcastic as ever, and it's hard to take him seriously when he sings "Aloha, hello there, remember me, I remember you". There's something eerily insincere about his delivery, which clashes with the gorgeous ethereal tribal dub of the instrumentation.

It's a fascinating new entry in the Rotten canon, now that the possibility of a full length album and tour cycle grows increasingly unlikely.
