Play It Loud @ Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY - U.S.A.

Play It Loud is a wonderful exhibition currently showing at the Met in New York City. The venerable museum, home to some of the world's most fantastic artwork, is showcasing some of Rock and Roll's most iconic instruments.

This long overdue recognition finally acknowledges the fact that Rock and Roll isn't just a pop culture artefact: it's Art. It belongs in the same halls and encyclopaedias as Da Vinci, Velasquez, Mozart, Bergman, etc.

There is something incredibly poignant about seeing the instruments that were used to record some of  our favorite songs or perform some of favorite concerts. Paul McCartney's Hofner bass, Jimmy Page's double neck SG, Eric Clapton's Blackie, Stevie Ray Vaughan's Number One, Keith Richards' Micawber, Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat, Keith Moon's kit, Springsteen's tele from the Born to Run cover, Hendrix' hand painted "Love Drops" Flying V, Prince's Love Symbol guitar, Rick Nielsen's quintuple (!) neck Hamer... A veritable treasure chest for the Rock music lover.

You have until October to see this exhibition, don't hesitate. It's a music aficionado's dream come true.
