Jeff Tweedy and Wilco keep releasing one fantastic album after the other. It's been a long time since they played anything that can be categorised as "alt-country", but at its core Wilco still sings about the American experience and in that way they are quintessentially Americana. But pop, punk, psychedelia, swing and other genres seep through in Tweedy's idiosyncratic songwriting making this original blend something more...
Jeff Tweedy is an endearing presence, a born storyteller who is at once charismatic and unassuming, funny and melancholic, shyly introducing his songs one minute and dancing with carefree abandon the next.
I can't believe it's been over two decades since their debut AM. And if someone had told me back then that Wilco would go on to become one of the best bands of its generation, making music that is constantly moving and exciting, selling millions of records and selling out concert halls all over the planet, well, I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised.
