A Conversation with Drink The Sea - Video Interview

Watch our full video interview with Drink The Sea , recorded during their European tour. The conversation covers their debut double album , the tour, their songwriting and recording process, the films that accompany each track, and a few broader, more philosophical questions along the way.

Drink The Sea is a project instigated by drummer Barrett Martin of Screaming Trees and Mad Season, alongside longtime collaborators Alain Johannes of Eleven and Queens of the Stone Age, Peter Buck of R.E.M. and Slow Music, and Duke Garwood, known for his collaborations with Mark Lanegan or Morcheeba, joined by Abbey Blackwell and Dr. Lisette Garcia. Enough credentials for you?

The collective is currently in the middle of a European tour presenting their debut double album, and we took the opportunity to sit down with them to talk about the record, the tour, their songwriting and recording process, the films that accompany each track, and a few broader, more philosophical questions along the way.

The on screen interviewer will be familiar to anyone who has followed the French stoner rock scene over the years. Our old buddy Lo, also known as Patròn, is the singer, guitarist and mastermind of Loading Data, now also pursuing a solo career. Having recorded several times with both Martin and Johannes, he was the ideal person to turn this interview into a genuine conversation between friends.

Some of the images in the video were shot by music and event photographer/videographer Brian Downie. Many thanks to him and his amazing eye for the great footage!
