Blue-eyed, red-haired soul outfit Simply Red are celebrating 40 years of hits by embarking on a world tour, focusing wisely on their many hits: cover songs like "If You Don't Know Me By Now" or "It's Only Love Doing Its Thing," and originals like "Fairground" or "Stars."
Mick Hucknall, who, for all intents and purposes IS Simply Red, still possesses an impossibly silky smooth voice. It's like age has no grip on the man. His backing band is top notch and the light show is perfect. Some would argue that everything is a little too immaculate, and that the whole thing, paradoxically, lacks a little soul. Such is the price of perfection.
