Runaway Club seemingly comes out of nowhere. At the time of writing, they have a single track available on streaming platforms… and that’s about it. No back catalogue to lean on, no obvious build-up, just a name on the bill and half an hour to make something happen in front of an audience that is, for the most part, waiting for Maggie Lindemann.
And yet, against those odds, they manage to leave a mark. Their set, built around punchy, punk-infused dance anthems, was chaotic and riotous in all the right places, carried as much by attitude as by the material itself. Early days, clearly, but first impressions are important and this one was a success. More to come, assuredly.
