Greece's Suicidal Angels replaced U.S. death metal veterans Massacre on this ungodly extreme metal bill, playing before Terrorizer and Possessed, and while this caused understandable disappointment among the audience's more, shall we say... mature contingent, this only made the thrash revivalists play that much harder to win them over. There's nothing like having something to prove, and Nick Melissourgos and the rest of the quartet stepped up in a big way with their apocalyptic but surprisingly melodic compositions.
While the headliners setlists focused on their legacy recordings, Suicidal Angels chose to highlight their current LP Profane Prayer, and by the end of their 40-minute set, the doubters had forgotten about their disappointment, instead choosing to mosh and headbang with fervor and abandon. Such is the power of metal.
