American black metal pioneers Absu have travelled a long and intricate path marked by shifting line ups, break ups, and even changes of name. To celebrate thirty years of their seminal album The Sun of Tiphareth, Absu mastermind Proscriptor McGovern has gathered his allies from Greek extreme metal outfit Zemial to bring the record to life on stage. We met with Proscriptor McGovern and with Zemial’s Vorskaath ahead of their Paris appearance with Trivax and Ancient, and spoke about the album’s anniversary, the unholy fusion of their two worlds, and why munster cheese should never find its way into a backstage area.
