Che Arthur @ La Maroquinerie, Paris - November 9th, 2025

We had never heard of Che Arthur before his opening set for Bob Mould at La Maroquinerie, but within minutes he had our full attention. A veteran of the Chicago indie scene, Arthur crafts songs that blur the line between folk introspection and punk urgency. It is hard to tell whether he is playing punk songs disguised as folk tunes, or folk songs that refuse to behave but either way, they slayed. His voice carried warmth and weariness in equal measure, and his easy rapport with the crowd made the room feel smaller, more intimate. It was a brief set, but a convincing one; the kind that leaves you wanting to dig deeper into the artist’s catalog as soon as the lights come up.
