Cage The Elephant at Le Zénith, Paris - February 26th, 2025

Nearly five years to the day after their last Paris show at L’Olympia, Cage The Elephant returned to a sold-out Zénith, packed to the gills. Cage The Elephant are a curious band—one that somehow crams four decades of alternative rock into a single package. You can hear echoes of Pixies, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis, and The Strokes in their music, yet they never sound like copycats. Their brand of garage rock is raw but accessible, built on simple structures that explode into epic, stadium-ready anthems.

Matt Shultz remains the quintessential rock frontman—always in the crowd’s face, but never confrontational. He’s toned down the acrobatics, spending less time climbing the stage or launching himself into the audience, but his energy is undiminished. If anything, his connection with the crowd has only deepened. And in return, the crowd never stopped jumping, dancing, and screaming along.

The set leaned heavily on the holy triumvirate of MelophobiaSocial Cues and Tell Me I'm Pretty with a handful of tracks from their latest album, Neon Pill, sprinkled in. The band saved their most raucous rockers for the end, sending the night off in a frenzy.

A fantastic show from one of the greatest bands of its generation and the Zénith audience seemed to agree. For 90 minutes, Cage The Elephant owned the small arena. On the next tour cycle, it will be a stadium.
