Alice Cooper's new album will be called The Road and is due out on August 25th. It's a concept album with the road (duh) as primary theme. For the first time in a long while, the album is written and performed with his current touring bad including Tommy Henriksen, Ryan Roxie and Nita Strauss on guitar, Glen Sobel on drums and Chuck Garric on bass. You can hear a frustratingly short snippet of a teaser for one of the songs in the embedded YouTube video below.
Don't say we didn't warn you: this was barely a snippet. This felt more like Alice mocking us. But, as a fan, I'll take it! Thankfully, the whole song will be released on June 14th... so just a few more days to wait!
Other participants on the album are Kane Roberts, who played with Alice during his 1980's Heavy Metal phase and replaced Nita for a few months last year while she was playing with Demi Lovato, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Wayne Kramer of MC5 (he'd already guested on the previous album Detroit Stories) and Keith Nelson from Buckcherry.
Alice is currently on tour with his supergroup The Hollywood Vampires, featuring Joe Perry and Johnny Depp. We'll be covering their Paris show on June 25, so watch this space.
