Shonen Knife have been together in one form or another for over forty years, releasing dozens of records and playing their catchy power pop/punk tunes the world over. This tour is labeled as an anniversary tour, but they're also promoting their excellent new album Our Best Place, which doesn't budge from their style of Japanese pop culture vignettes set to Ramones-style punk rock.
The band played 80 minutes and 19 songs of bubbly pop/punk, including classics of their repertoire like Twist Barbie or Devil House.
The energy and enthusiasm of the three women was only matched by the effervescence in the pit: the head banging and good-natured moshing started almost immediately and didn't cease until the very last song, a cover of Blitzkrieg Bop.
