Mere days after the 30th anniversary of Wish, The Cure play nearly three hours in Paris, moving through hits and classics, deep cuts and a slew of new songs from their forthcoming album.
Robert Smith's voice simply hasn't changed. And those songs haven't lost any of their power either: psychedelic, dramatic, gothic, anthemic, melancholy one moment and enormous the next. They have become the soundtrack to not one or two but three, nearly four generations, and hearing them stacked together over the course of such a long set only makes their durability more striking.
Nearly three hours later, The Cure still seem to have left plenty unsaid. One of the finest concerts of the year.
