Primal Scream may be a part of the rave culture, they may dabble in electronica, but at their core they are a garage rock band with a songwriting style indebted to the Rolling Stones, the Byrds, Funkadelic and early psychedelia. Their new album Chaosmosis finds the perfect balance between their retro inclinations and their more modern experimentations, but this concert is a more rocking affair.
Bobby Gillespie's past lifestyle doesn't seem to have caught up with him. Now in his mid-fifties, he still has the frame of a teenager. Together with Andrew Innes they form a perfect singer/guitarist rock duo in the tradition of Jagger/Richards, Page/Plant and Tyler/Perry.
They played four songs from the new record and selections from most of their repertoire. A few songs from Screamadelica of course, as well as songs from Give Out But Don't Give In, XTRMNTR and Riot City Blues. They ended with Movin' On Up to the utter delight of the children of the 90's in attendance.
